Katherine Heigl is open about being raised within "a the white bubble." She also explains the impact that this realization has had on the parenting style of her adoptees who are multi-racial. She revealed in an interview recently that, in terms of skin colour the issue isn't that important. However, after talking to her adopted sister in South Korea she realized just how differently society treats them. "I wanted to know Meg whether she felt treated differently when she went out with our parents and when she went out by herself. Meg said, 'Oh, sure, I've seen it all!' Heigl admitted to her parents that she realized how foolish she was. According to the actor, she was angered. But, she was determined to channel this energy into helping the girls she adopted. Heigl as well as her husband of 13 years -- the musician Josh Kelley -- have a 4-year-old son together, Joshua Bishop Kelley, Jr. They took in Nancy Leigh (age 12) from South Korea and Adalaide (age 8) and is black and was adopted in 2009.
