Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford has been an American actress, dancer and singer since the early 1990s. As a young actress, she appeared in Broadway performances, she starred in Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. The Tony Award was given to her for the role of Essie Carmichael, in You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh is a collaborator on projects with award-winning directors, actors, and producers for most of her career. Ashford is scheduled to be in the role of Kumail Nanjiani on Robert Siegel's Hulu exclusive Welcome to Chippendales. It premieres on the 22nd of November. Ashford is in the production of Searchlight Pictures' terror thriller Dust starring Sarah Paulson. It will also be available in the form of an Hulu Original on Disney DTC. Ashford is scheduled to return to Broadway on March 20, 2023 in which he'll be starring alongside Josh Groban opposite Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. The production will be held located at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Thomas Kail (director) and Jeffrey Seller (producer), the same duo who brought us Hamilton is directing the production. Ashford was Paula Jones, the main role in Ryan Murphy's latest FX program American Crime Story Impeachment. The show is based on the crisis which swept Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp along with other key actors into the very first impeachment proceeding in America in over a century. Ashford appeared for two seasons in CBS hit comedy B Positive. It was co-produced by Chuck Lorre with Marco Pennette. It featured Linda Lavin Sheryl Crow, Hector Elizondo as well as Ben Vereen. Ashford is no stranger to Broadway. Her performance as Essie in You Can't Take It with You won her the Tony Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle Awards. Also, she has appeared in Broadway as a character in Sunday in the Park With George Wicked, Legally Blonde as well as the original character as Lauren in Kinky Boots for which she received a nomination for a Tony Award. She was born and grew up in Denver Ashford now splits her time between Los Angeles and New York.
