April Lockhart
April Lockhart born 4 July 1995. She began piano and guitar lessons in 7th grade which sparked her interest. At the age of seven she began to take piano and guitar lessons. The lessons sparked her passion in songwriting. At 14, April spent much time writing lyrics and perfecting her musical skills. Then she began to take trips to write with father, who lived in NY as well as LA. April started to incorporate additional relevant subjects into the song, which she called the Take my Hand song for some acquaintances, including peer pressure issues and suicide among teens. Lockhart also enjoys an increasing following as a lifestyle influencer and works for popular Clean Beauty company Ilia. Her disability is a part of her persona, however it is not the whole of the picture. The profile of Lockhart on Instagram does not hide her disability but doesn't concentrate solely on her disability. The point? The message? That we are all multifaceted, and that our identities and physical bodies aren't what they appear. Lockhart through a video message sent from her Nashville home, states that I don't wish for that to be a part of me. I am more than my physical self. This doesn't influence my day-to-day activities. I go about doing my job as normal and have developed my own ways to adapt. Because it's part of who I am, it's something that's worth talking about. Lockhart has served as an excellent inspiration to her fellow women regarding self-acceptance. Lockhart admits to having been through times when she felt insecure about wearing certain clothing styles which showed her arms. She wears what she likes and is proud to post pictures of herself in the outfits she chooses on social media. Self-love for her was always a lengthy process. It's the same for everybody regardless of how much they are afraid. I think it's important to surround yourself with those who can identify and feel your heart.
