Nadia Comaneci was born on the 12th of November, 1961 within Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej (now Onesti), Romania. Nadia is the Romanian Olympic gymnast and she holds the record for being awarded 10/10 marks in an Olympic competition. Bela Karolyi was later Romanian gymnastics coach, discovered Comaneci when she was just six years old. The first time she competed was at The National Junior Championships in which she was 13th place in the year 1969. In 1970, Comaneci took home the title. At her first international event in 1972, a pre-Olympic junior event for countries of the communist bloc she won three gold medals. Then in 1973 and 1974 she was the all-around junior champion. In 1975 she was awarded 4 gold and 1 silver at her first senior competition. Lyudmila Torishcheva was a five-time European champion. She won the American Cup in New York City in 1976 becoming the first woman to perform a backward double salto as a dismount from the uneven bars that are parallel. Carol Wayne.........................Carol Wayne was an American film and TV actor best recognized for portraying Art Fern's Tea-Time Movie Lady on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. As a teenager she started appearing on touring shows like Ice Capades as a skater along with her younger sibling Nina Wayne. Carol Marie Wayne, born in Chicago Illinois US on 6 September 1942. Carol's professional career started in the entertainment industry during her teenage year. She began her career as figure skater, performing alongside her twin sister Nina Wayne as part of the shows that traveled around called Ice Capades. Ice Capades featured performances of skaters ice skating by actors.
